We are a young company and are ever changing. As we grow and develop we are forming our identity and getting a better idea of who and what we want to be.

We started as Cakes + simply because we knew what ever we did we would involve cake (this is pretty much a given for us!) And in many ways our original statement still describes us.

"Cakes + is based in the North East of England providing home-made, delicious treats. Providing from individual orders to bulk catering, we operate with a determined focus on quality and a big heap of scrumptiousness!

Whether you are ordering a one off cake for a special occasion or want to keep your kitchen stocked with yummy treats without the hassle we are confident that you will enjoy our range of cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other goodies and you'll want to keep coming back.

Finding someone who puts 100% love into their products is rare these days. Cakes + is dedicated to creating the perfect treat experience for you. Providing special orders for both a treat or a special event, Cakes + can work with you to fulfil your every need and culinary fantasy!"

But 2011 has seen a leap in our identity and we have added "Hobbit Hole" to our site. Firstly this is because we wanted a brand to capture peoples imagination and be easily identifiable. Secondly, and possibly more importantly, we are busy people and frequently meals in our house are taken in frequent intervals. So in our house it is not uncommon for Mr Cakes+ to eat breakfast at 5, go to work and return to eat a second breakfast... much like a Hobbit.

We like food that fills up the corners, commonly known as comfort food or soul food. Food that makes you smile, food that makes you sigh contentedly. Food that comes from happy homes and tastes great. And we hope that you do too!
